Just a reminder .. that if you are a monthly Goods and Services Tax (GST) filer .. your GST return for the month of December 2006 is due today.
If you file quarterly .. and have a year end of either December, March, June, or September .. your Q4 GST return for the period October 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 is due today.
If you are like me, self-employed proprietor and an annual filer .. you won’t have to file your 2006 GST return until June 15, 2007. Although, FILING YOUR RETURN and PAYMENT OF YOUR RETURN are two different things altogether. Just like your income tax, payments and balances owing should be remitted by April 30, 2007.

I’ve been getting quite a bit links in my Dashboard from faces on this page that has been blatantly copying the entire list of faces on their own pages, I guess to get a link trackback like I did. I’m not sure that this is a good idea, so I am not planning to do that - at least until all 2000 bloggers are listed
(we’ll see .. it’s actually a great idea but, I hate people who have already done that already because in my Bloglines - the bloody post keeps showing up and takes a while to load - so I don’t people to be mad at me!)
MEANWHILE … by my math .. there is only approximately 865 bloggers on the page of 2000 Bloggers
Above are A-List Bloggers… B-List Bloggers… C-List Bloggers… All blogs in between, plus some you’ve never seen and if you want to appear on this page yourself .. put up a picture on your own blog and go comment on THIS ENTRY on Tino’s blog and ask to be included! There’s only 1.135 spots left!

The following is now available on the CRA Web site..
Did you know…
That you can claim, as a non-refundable tax credit, medical expenses for yourself, your spouse or common-law partner, and your children born in 1989 or later? For 2006, the total expenses have to be more than 3% of your net income, or $1,884, whichever is less. You may also be able to claim medical expenses for the following persons if they depend on you for support:

The following News Release or Speech has just been posted on the Finance Canada Site.
Release of The Fiscal Monitor
Highlights of financial results for November 2006
November 2006: budgetary surplus of $0.3 billion
There was a budgetary surplus of $0.3 billion in November 2006, slightly higher than the restated $0.1-billion surplus in November 2005. Budgetary revenues increased by $1.0 billion, or 6.0 per cent, due to strong growth in personal income tax revenues and a large gain in non-resident withholding taxes, partly offset by lower excise taxes and duties. Program expenses increased by $1.1 billion, or 7.8 per cent, reflecting increases in transfer payments and departmental operating expenses. Public debt charges were down $0.3 billion.
April to November 2006: budgetary surplus of $6.1 billion
For the first eight months of the 2006–07 fiscal year, the budgetary surplus is estimated at $6.1 billion, down $0.5 billion from the $6.6-billion surplus posted in the same period of 2005–06. Budgetary revenues rose $6.4 billion, or 4.6 per cent, reflecting solid growth in income tax revenues, partly offset by declines in excise taxes and employment insurance (EI) premium revenues. Program expenses were up $7.1 billion, or 6.4 per cent, due to both higher transfers and other program expenses. Public debt charges were down $0.1 billion.

Since about mid-September 2006 .. I’ve been slowly trying to figure out ways to reduce the amount of SPAM messages in my Eudora InBox. Back then, I was averaging about 400-500 emails per day in total, and by late November it was closer to 650-750 count .. EVERY DAY.
But, it’s all part of being online I figure .. and it doesn’t really bother me … much! You see, I have spam filters in my Eudora Lite software (SPAMNIX) .. my ISP also has some spam and anti-virus software installed .. and with my hundreds of FILTERS in my email program that I created myself .. I rarely see most of the junk anyway! And, if some spam emails come into my InBox .. I’ll just right click and label it JUNK and my Eudora pretty much takes care of it.
