Rome, Italy – The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today announced that Canada’s New Government is contributing US$200 million for the Advance Market Commitment (AMC) to create a pneumococcal vaccine. This initiative is part of a global effort to develop vaccines that will benefit the world’s poorest nations.

Minister Flaherty, who was making the announcement on behalf of the Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of International Cooperation and Minister for La Francophonie and Official Languages, was joined by Italian Economy and Finance Minister Tommaso Padoa-Schioppa, U.K. Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown and World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz.

Starting in 2007, you may be able to claim the fees paid for physical fitness programs for your children under the age of 16? The newly proposed children’s fitness tax credit provides parents with an annual credit of up to $500 per child to help cover the cost of their child’s physical fitness programs or sporting activities fees.

The Honourable Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, today launched online consultations, giving Canadians from coast to coast to coast an opportunity to participate in the development of Budget 2007. Canada’s New Government held federal online consultations for the first time during the development of last year’s budget.

“By offering these consultations, we are giving all Canadians an opportunity to play a role in the federal budget process,” said Minister Flaherty. “I encourage everyone to take the time to submit any ideas and comments they might have. Their input will be seriously considered for this budget and future budgets.”

I will be upgrading this blog this morning to the latest wordpress version 2.1

Not that I have time to do this, mind you - but, I managed to backup both the MySQL database and files yesterday while I was upgrading the PetLvr.com/blog/ … so, what the hey!, eh?

This shouldn’t physically take that long .. although it currently is a version 2.0.5 blog, and the last one I upgraded .. well, I had a little problems with the RSS feeds …
