It refers to excellence achieved through long practice in any endeavor. The term Kung Fu would hardly be found in any ancient texts, as it was not popular until the 20th century. The oldest evidence of Kung Fu goes back to the Zhou Dynasty, 1111-255 BC.

Rampant Knight Banner

Thursday 13 October 2005 @ 12:40 am

Rampant Knight Banner is a silvery “Knight in Armor” that charges gallantly into battle upon his rampant stallion! The Rampant Knight Banner features deep black top with complementing Royal blue bottom. The banner is 48 inches long and 22-1/2 inches wide. Made of durable cotton.

The purpose of banner was to bear a noble’s arms. In the earlier heraldic period, the banner of one’s leader showed where his men should rally, and the badge they bore could easily be one of the charges on that banner.

Heraldic Banner is the personal flag of an armiger which shows the arms, as depicted on the shield, and nothing else. Traditionally, the design is placed on the flag as if the flagstaff were to the left of a drawing of the shield. The purpose of a banner is to locate and identify its owner and it is the visual equivalent of his name. Flown over his house, it identifies his property, elsewhere, it indicates his presence.

European Barbute – Medieval Helmet

Thursday 13 October 2005 @ 12:37 am

European Barbute, circa 1460 is a prime example of the true genius of early Italian helm smiths! The Barbute style helm provided visibility so crucially needed in battle while providing protection of the neck. This is a full size wearable reproduction skillfully handcrafted of 18 gauge steel. The European Barbute is a reproduction of a 14th century Barbute helmet. The helmet is both wearable, as well as excellent collectible piece.

The barbute is a conical, open-faced helmet, whose sides and back are extended down to protect the neck. The barbute is characterized by a rounded skull and a t-shaped opening for the face, which are sometimes expanded into a fully open face. The Barbute helmet is of style used in the mid 15th century. The barbuta, which is typically Italian in style, is known as an ‘Italian sallet’ in Germany and a ‘French sallet’ in France. The barbute, which originally came from Italy, was eventually worn all over Europe, though usually with the addition of a bevor, or, more often, a mail aventail. In the latter form it can be mistaken for a small bascinet without a visor, the difference being the barbute has cheek protection.

Gargoyle Tic-Tac-Toe Set

Saturday 1 October 2005 @ 3:52 am

Gargoyle Tic-Tac-Toe Set has Gargoyle figurines for pieces. Each piece is constructed of pewter. The Gargoyle Tic-Tac-Toe Set measures 6″ x 6″.

A Child’s Game – I don’t think so! Gargoyles were used to ward off evil; will you be able to ward off defeat?

The original purpose of a gargoyle was to drain water away from the sides of a building. The word comes from the French “gargouille”, which means “throat or pipe”. However, the history of the gargoyle extends much further back in time. They were “alive and well” in ancient Greece. They especially flourished in and around the Middle Ages.

They were a decoration of the house of God. They were carved by many people and took a number of forms: animals, people, demons, fantastic creatures or collection of interesting little symbols or other devices. They were believed by many to serve as protectors, relating to the idea that in order to keep away “evil spirits”, something frightening must be used.

Druid Robe

Tuesday 20 September 2005 @ 3:59 am

Druid Robe

The Druid Robe is a classic pullover robed with closed front and a fabulous hood. The robe is generously cut and long to fit men and women, fits up to XXL. The Druid Robe is available in tough black cotton. Hand wash.

The term Druid refers to the priestly class in ancient Celtic societies which existed through much of Western Europe, north of the Alps and in the British Isles. The Druidic practice appears to be deeply traditional and conservative; the druids were conserving repositories of culture and wisdom. The historical knowledge of Druids is very limited. Of their oral literature of sacred songs, formulas for prayers, rules of divination and magic, not one verse has survived. Their influence was as much social as religious. Druids not only used to take the part that modern priests would, but they were often the philosophers, scientists, lore-masters, teachers, judges and counselors to the kings. In the lives of saints, martyrs and missionaries, the Druids are represented as magicians and diviners opposing Christian missionaries

The Magic Unicorn Banner

Tuesday 20 September 2005 @ 3:56 am

The Magic Unicorn Banner has a deep black top panel and a gold bottom panel. The Unicorn Crest is silk-screened on in silver. The height of the Magic Unicorn banner is 48 inches and the width is 22 ½ inches. Made of durable cotton.

Unicorn is a mythic animal with the body of a white horse, the legs of an antelope, and the tail of lion; a single spiral horn growing out of its forehead. It is the symbol of supreme magical power. It teaches that every action is creation, so make every day count. In addition, it helps to understand the relationship between physical and spiritual realities.

The unicorn is probably the only fabulous beast that does not seem to have been created out of human fears. In even the earliest references, he is fierce yet good, selfless yet solitary, but always mysteriously beautiful. He could be captured only by unfair means and his single horn was said to neutralize poison.

This type of cape was cut so that the front and back could be buttoned together to form a coat and the shoulder pieces could be buttoned together to form the sleeves.

The Tomb of Golden Pharaoh

Saturday 17 September 2005 @ 3:31 am

The Tomb of Golden Pharaoh is a miniature Replica of the King Tut Sarcophagus, measuring 7″.

This exquisite miniature of one of Egypt’s great treasures, the Sarcophagus and mummy of King Tut will surely please any historian and lover of Egyptian art. Made of resin and beautifully detailed by hand in rich deep colors and glistening gold tones. Set includes sarcophagus with decorated lid and removable mummy.

The term Pharaoh derives from an Egyptian word, Pr-Aa, meaning “Great House.” Originally, the term was used for a royal palace, later it came into vogue to refer to the king. Pharaoh was applied to Egyptian kings from c. 1500 to 343 BC. Pharaohs were viewed as gods; keeping their divine status even after death. A pharaoh’s will was supreme, and he governed by royal decree, with the assistance of viziers. The common people nevertheless judged a pharaoh by his deeds; many were criticized, plotted against, and even deposed and killed.
