The nameservers have kicked in over the past weekend and this blog is now ready for new posts. I am in the final stages of testing the database, the permissions, etc etc etc. but, the more I prepare all of the other sites .. it’s going faster and faster now.

Please ignore all links in my archives. This was a “getEstore.com” domain and pre-stocked online store purchased by me several years back and for the 3rd year in a row - I chose not to renew the partnership.

If there are any links to products in the store - I will not be obtaining any commission .. however, if you feel you want to purchase any of the products in their stores .. someone else is taking over the domain .. and their shipping and product policies are pretty good. I’ve even purchased stuff from them myself!

My apologies ..

Five of my sites were down since yesterday .. although some of the RSS Feeds were still working, and I’ve been getting comment spam .. most have not been able to view the site. I believe it was a “Permissions” issue, as a result of some migration of my account to new host servers.. But, I’ll never know for sure - because I’m not asking .. I’m just glad we’re back online! WooHoo!

Server Glitch?

Since Yesterday ..

I have been unable to bring up any of my sites, due to a migration and permission issue.

When I attempt to visit my sites - I see nothing. Do you?

Ye … I’m still getting comment spam! So, I figured maybe the RSS Feed still works and thought I would pass along a message.

This post (if it works) was created using the BlogDesk software and posted on multiple blogs at the same instance. Cool if it works (for other reasons) but REALLY Cool if it gets through and passes along this message:

In the far right sidebar, in the RESOURCES box .. we have added NEW RSS feeds - By Category.

What does this mean?

Well, we post a lot of different items in here .. and we hope you add our RSS FEED (http://feeds.feedburner.com/1800HART/aDkc) .. but, if you are only interested in BOOKS and MEDIEVAL ART .. you now have the opportunity to just add those separate sub-category feeds to your favorite RSS feed reader .. so you don’t have to be subjected to all other of HART’s picks ..

I should note that adding the individual RSS feeds does NOT affect the Feedburner “COUNT” graphic that is also in the RESOURCES box in the sidebar.

Advertiser Appreciation - July 2006

I should mention that I look for templates all the time for my blogs. I just can’t afford to “pay” a designer or professional blog template developer to create a unique template for me and my network of blogs. A lot of the times, I go to the “usual” places, search engines, Emily Robbins, Alex King, Wordpress .. etc etc ..

Not this time .. This time - I was participating in a community net-party like this one, Tuesday Night Mike Night, a few weeks ago .. and I saw this theme on the AdviceLibrary.com Blog.

By the way .. AdviceLibrary.com is an online article directory for both publishers and authors .. Check it out!

The theme is called … AdsMindedWide by Brian Sapiens of the Hi-Tech.

While I was “1-800-HART’icizing” this blog, adding my little bits here and there and started to play with the header graphic, CSS and more … my friend, the famous Joe Yanuzzi helped me out and created the above header (and about a dozen other choices too! I’d link his blog, but it’s in flux right now

HART (1-800-HART)

This is how I described the new look on HART-Empire - June 7, 2006

I was bored .. and decided that the 1-800-HART’s Picks blog deserved a new look, since it has not had a facelift since its inception.

This is an experiment in progress. Based on my statistics, only 4% of its readers were using browsers with screen views less than 1000 pixels, so I have selected one that is quite wider and more suitable for showcasing products, and for monetization.

Naturally, it just made sense to try the Ads Minded Wide Version Theme by Hi-Tech

NEW LOOK - Version 2.0

Currently, it is a work-in-progress as I tweak the code and color schemes and ads and really “1-800-HART’ize” it like I normally do for all of my websites.

How do you like it?

There are a few tweaks and adjustments still to be made, however most will likely be in the monetization area .. colors and placement of ads, and the update of the “blog” stuff section and links.

I mentioned .. HERE .. that I was planning to upgrade to the latest wordpress version and find a new template. Well, wordpress has been updated, but I have yet to find a suitable design I like.

I have thought about one design though .. except that it’s width is over 1000 pixels. According to my stats, only 6% of readers are using browser windows in 800×600 or smaller (?) .. so, I hope if I decide to go this route .. most will probably not notice ..

CAN YOU SUGGEST TO ME A BETTER DESIGN FOR 1-800-HART’s PICKS? Feel free to post some URL’s in these comments and I will take a look.

I have just upgraded this Wordpress version 1.52 blog .. into the latest wordpress version 2.0.2 ..

Some plugins work and I will be obtaining other plugins that only work with version 2.0.

I am also entertaining the idea of a new template for this blog. Watch this space for further developments!

Apparently, my lack of sales and commission earnings over the past six months resulted in the standard company policy of scooping any commissions that I might have earned prior to their closure of my non-earning account over recent months. I wonder what will happen if you click on certain categories and products that I have listed here in the past … and who will get the commission?

I’ve decided to move on .. not remove the products, and not bother in telling you which products that I have been promoting for the past year - to no avail.
