Cleaning Your Window Sill: It is important that you thoroughly clean the window sill you have chosen before attempting to install the Kitty Window Perch. After cleaning, allow at least two hours to ensure that the window sill is completely dry. Please make sure that all moisture and any residue from cleaning solutions is completely removed from the window sill prior to installation.

Step 1
Remove all contents from the box. Detach the two white frame legs that are taped together. Turn the Window Perch over exposing the wood side and place it on a flat surface so the cover is facing down. Remove the two thumb screws and washers. Position one leg over each set of holes and re-insert the washers and thumbscrews. Tighten each thumb screw so that the legs are held in place, but can still be adjusted forward and backward.
Step 2
Check to make sure that the window sill is clean and completely dry. This step is very important to ensure proper bonding of Velcro to window sill. The Velcro intended to be placed on window sill should be removed from the window perch at this time. Carefully remove the release paper from the Velcro hook, and firmly place the Velcro hook on the window sill with the adhesive side down. The Velcro hook should be placed at least 1/2 inch in from the edge of the window sill. Allow at least one hour for the adhesive to set. Place the Window Perch on the window sill, matching up the Velcro hook with the Velcro loop that is permanently attached to the front of the Window Perch. Slide the legs forward or backward as needed so they are firmly in contact with the wall and are supporting the Window Perch in a horizontal position. Tighten the thumb screws firmly. It is recommended that you allow eight hours before applying weight to the Window Perch. Please test to make sure the Window Perch is solidly mounted before allowing your pet to use it.
Removing The Cover
The Kitty Window is designed to allow the cover to be removed for cleaning without removing the Window Perch from your window. Refer to the washing instruction label on the outer cover for full care instructions. Check to make sure that the Window Perch is solidly mounted any time you remove or replace the cover.
The manufacturer recommends that you periodically check the stability of the Window Perch to ensure that it is secure. Adjust the frame legs as needed.
Washing Instructions: Remove cover. Machine wash cover cold water. Use mild soap. No bleach. Remove promptly. Line dry.

About the Authors: Jack and Wendy Volhard share their home in upstate New York with a Briard, a German Shepherd, a Labrador Retriever, a Landseer Newfoundland, two Standard Wirehaired Dachshunds, and three cats. The dogs are more or less well-trained, depending on who you ask, and the cats do their own thing. All are allowed on the furniture, but do get off when told. The Volhards are true practitioners, having obtained more than 50 conformation and performance titles, multiple High in Trials, and Dog World Awards of Canine Distinction.
Through their classes, lectures, seminars, and training camps in the U.S., Canada, and England, the Volhards have taught countless dog owners how to communicate more effectively with their pets. Wendy, whose expertise extends to helping owners gain a better understanding of why their pets do what they do, developed the Canine Personality Profile, and her two-part series, “Drives–A New Look at an Old Concept,” was named Best Article for 1991 in a Specialty Magazine by the DWAA.
