Test: This is a test post through BlogDesk

Friday 15 September 2006 @ 8:52 am

Since Yesterday ..

I have been unable to bring up any of my sites, due to a migration and permission issue.

When I attempt to visit my sites – I see nothing. Do you?

Ye … I’m still getting comment spam! So, I figured maybe the RSS Feed still works and thought I would pass along a message.

This post (if it works) was created using the BlogDesk software and posted on multiple blogs at the same instance. Cool if it works (for other reasons) but REALLY Cool if it gets through and passes along this message:

I’m having problems with the following sites:

http://1800HART.com/blog/

http://1800HART.com/picks/

http://PetLvr.com/blog/

http://CorydonClock.com/blog/

http://HARTandYVONNE.com/blog/

I’m almost sure it has to do with permissions … my host provider migrated my accounts to different servers yesterday .. Although, I’m not 100% .. rather than try to play with each site individually .. I’m hoping for an easy fix from their end that gets everything working correctly as it should.

I will try to keep you all informed as I go along today ..

The Zen of CSS Design: Visual Enlightenment for the Web (Voices That Matter)

Wednesday 6 September 2006 @ 10:42 pm

The Zen of CSS Design: Visual Enlightenment for the Web (Voices That Matter)

Editorial Reviews

Book Description
Proving once and for all that standards-compliant design does not equal dull design, this inspiring tome uses examples from the landmark CSS Zen Garden site as the foundation for discussions on how to create beautiful, progressive CSS-based Web sites. By using the Zen Garden sites as examples of how CSS design techniques and approaches can be applied to specific Web challenges, authors Dave Shea and Molly Holzschlag provide an eye-opening look at the range of design methods made possible by CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). By the time you’ve finished perusing the volume, you’ll have a new understanding of the graphically rich, fully accessible sites that CSS design facilitates. In sections on design, layout, imagery, typography, effects, and themes, Dave and Molly take you through every phase of the design process–from striking a sensible balance between text and graphics to creating eye-popping special effects (no scripting required).

Another Note About This New Template

Tuesday 13 June 2006 @ 10:43 pm

I should mention that I look for templates all the time for my blogs. I just can’t afford to “pay” a designer or professional blog template developer to create a unique template for me and my network of blogs. A lot of the times, I go to the “usual” places, search engines, Emily Robbins, Alex King, WordPress .. etc etc ..

Not this time .. This time – I was participating in a community net-party like this one, Tuesday Night Mike Night, a few weeks ago .. and I saw this theme on the AdviceLibrary.com Blog.

By the way .. AdviceLibrary.com is an online article directory for both publishers and authors .. Check it out!

The theme is called … AdsMindedWide by Brian Sapiens of the Hi-Tech.

While I was “1-800-HART’icizing” this blog, adding my little bits here and there and started to play with the header graphic, CSS and more … my friend, the famous Joe Yanuzzi helped me out and created the above header (and about a dozen other choices too! I’d link his blog, but it’s in flux right now :)

HART (1-800-HART)

This is how I described the new look on HART-Empire – June 7, 2006

I was bored .. and decided that the 1-800-HART’s Picks blog deserved a new look, since it has not had a facelift since its inception.

This is an experiment in progress. Based on my statistics, only 4% of its readers were using browsers with screen views less than 1000 pixels, so I have selected one that is quite wider and more suitable for showcasing products, and for monetization.

Naturally, it just made sense to try the Ads Minded Wide Version Theme by Hi-Tech

NEW LOOK – Version 2.0

Currently, it is a work-in-progress as I tweak the code and color schemes and ads and really “1-800-HART’ize” it like I normally do for all of my websites.

OLD LOOK – Version 1.0

Welcome to Version 2.0

Wednesday 7 June 2006 @ 12:48 am

I have switched themes …

How do you like it?

There are a few tweaks and adjustments still to be made, however most will likely be in the monetization area .. colors and placement of ads, and the update of the “blog” stuff section and links.

1-800-HART’s Picks – New Facelift In Progress

Wednesday 3 May 2006 @ 1:57 am

I have just upgraded this WordPress version 1.52 blog .. into the latest wordpress version 2.0.2 ..

Some plugins work and I will be obtaining other plugins that only work with version 2.0.

I am also entertaining the idea of a new template for this blog. Watch this space for further developments!

I’m blogging this Babydoll Tee

Thursday 8 September 2005 @ 6:51 pm

I’m blogging this Babydoll Tee

ThinkGeek T-Shirts

Fair warning…

Ladies, put the world on notice. It’s unlikely that you’ll actually see anyone overtly change their behavior lest they be blogged, but you’ll certainly shake up a paranoid few.

100% cotton black ladies’ shirt. Stretchy and fitted, not baggy like the guys’ stuff! “I’m blogging this” on the front in white and “www.oreilly.com” on the back, also in white.

Almost all of our tshirts are either Gildan Ultra Cotton or Hanes Beefy-Ts which are both 6.1 ounce, heavyweight, 100% cotton, preshrunk tshirts. For more details on shirt sizes, check out the chart below which includes approximate dimensions of our shirts.

Although we do not list the international equivalents of our sizes, you can use this International Clothing Size Conversion chart for more info.

We carry most shirts in M-XXL and some in Small and XXXL sizes. XXXL+ sizes are only made in a few colors and they’re a little harder to come by, so we can’t guarantee that we’ll carry them all the time in all the styles. We’re definitely keeping our eyes open for those sizes in other colors and for reasonable prices, so keep checking back and we’ll update the size selections for the different styles when we can.

Ladies/Babydoll Tees
We use a few different brands of ladies’ tees, but in general, the ladies’ shirts are small, stretchy and very form-fitting. Most of our ladies tees come in S, M, and L sizes; and many are also available in XL. The S size is very small, so if you’re hesitating on getting the small size, try getting a size or two larger.

Please see the sizing chart above for details about ladies’ shirt sizes.

Although we do not list the international equivalents of our sizes, you can use this International Clothing Size Conversion chart for more info.

Want larger ladies sizes? SO DO WE!!
Right now, we are sticking with our current babydoll tee manufacturer who makes sizes up to XL. If they increase their range to include larger sizes, or if we switch to a different manufacturer, we’ll make sure to post an announcement. Please don’t email asking when we will be getting larger sizes – we’ll let you know as soon as we do!

Other Clothing
We don’t have exact chest sizes for other clothing (like golf shirts, fleeces, etc) but based on our experience, they are similar to the T-Shirts. Our hooded sweatshirts are baggy and run a little big in the body but not in the sleeves. Our hats are all adjustable except for bucket hats which are sized for “average” heads; in other words, if you have a big noggin, the bucket hat probably won’t fit ya. Kids clothing is sized based on age. The 6 month size is way too big for a newborn, but buy them anyway, they grow into them!

Marshmallow Shooter

Monday 5 September 2005 @ 5:31 pm

Marshmallow Shooter

ThinkGeek Gadgets

Go Ahead . . . Shoot S’more!
The Marshmallow Shooter is an excellent addition to the office arsenal, shooting calamitous confections over 30 feet. It is easy to fire and reload, making it perfect for quick attacks (or rapid defense). The Shooter holds up to 20 marshmallows for extended office campaigns, and is capable of rapid fire for laying down cover for coworkers.

The Shooter comes equipped with 20 foam pellets (non-edible, but squishy) which are also fun to shoot. Marshmallow ammo is sold separately to maintain freshness. Each Ammo bag is 4.4 oz (the bag we counted had 247 rounds) of some of the tastiest (and deadliest) mini-marshmallows imaginable – straight from Marshmallowville (where, we hear, even the trees are tasty). Truly Ammo-licious!

The Marshmallow Shooter is a Creative Child Magazine 2004 seal of excellence winner – which means it is perfect for the office. The warning on the box says, “Do not eat marshmallows after shooting,” but Chris M. thinks when velocity and distance are incorporated into the equation, the 5 second rule is dramatically increased. He agrees with “Do not eat foam pellets,” however.

Shoots over 30 feet.
Magazine holds 20 rounds of ammo.
Shoots foam pellets or mini-marshmallows.
20 foam pellets included.
Mini-marshmallows not included, must be purchased separately.

TIX Led Clock

TIX Led Clock

ThinkGeek Gadgets

It’s Time For Patterns Telling Time

Patterns can be found everywhere in life. In our DNA, in cloud formations, during a chess game, in your code, in your deviant behaviors, and even in your bottle of Bawls. Patterns give us clues. Clues give us information. Information makes the world a happier place (not necessarily a safer happier place though). In the case of the Tix clock, the patterns can give you the time.

Millions of patterns are possible with the futuristic-looking Tix clock, yet the clock is extremely simple to read once you grasp the basic concept. The four seperate fields act like the four digits of a digital clock. The value of each digit is simply the number of illuminated squares in each field. So any given time of the day may have thousands of different ways of displaying the time. The clocks in the image are displaying the time 12:34. It’s that easy! Of course your friends are just going to take a look at your Tix clock and think it’s just modern LED art. Dullards…

Please note that the image to your left shows the clock static. However, you can set your Tix clock to update every second so that you end up with a constantly evolving change of patterns that reveals to you the time.

Features

Brushed metal faceplate
Available in Silver or Black
LED illuminators last indefinitely
Three display update options (every second, every 4 seconds, every minute)
Three dimming levels
May be mounted horizontally or vertically
May be placed on desk or wall mounted
Runs on 6V AC with included (US) wall transformer. 60 Hz.
Actual size 10.2″ x 3.0″ (x 1″ deep)

Recommended Animal Products from AnimalDen-com

I have created a virtual store at http://www.PetLvr.com/b/ of neat animal and pet related products at AnimalDen. These make great gifts for yourself and for others.

They have gift items and products on specific animals, pets, cats, dog breeds and wildlife. The products are generally available for each specific animal, pet, cat or dog breed, which include .. shirts, mousepads, address labels, mugs, calendars, jewelry, windchimes and much more.

I personally get my own address labels printed here, for my PapillonLvr.com “E-Bay” business, and a few other neat Papillon related products for the home (we have two wonderful Papillon Dogs named Maxxie and Sophie!) You can get other breed items too!

I set-up a virtual store that you can easily search for any product by product, by breed, or even by price level.

You should go.
